Make It Mother's Day, Any Day: Carolina Coastline

*I hesitated to post this idea for the weekend due to the tropical storm that swept by our coastline. Fortunately, today turned out to be a gorgeous, clear Lowcountry day. I hope you and your family enjoyed this mothering Sunday!

At 45, I think I'm like most moms on Mother's Day. Our desires are pretty basic really - hearkening back to Maslow's hierarchy of needs, they go something like this: a general sense of peace and calm tranquility, the love of our family, sleep, and the need for someone else to take the reins for just one day.  Breakfast in bed and a bag of Twizzlers don't hurt either!

A real treat for me on Mother's Day involves sunshine and some time spent on the waters of our beautiful coastline. Here's an idea for a favorite kayak put-in here in Mt. Pleasant. I'll let the pictures do the talking and I've listed the address for the public boat ramp at the bottom of the post as well as a few options for kayak rentals.

Harry Hallman Boat Ramp
Simmons Street and Mill Street
Mount Pleasant, SC 29464

FREE on-street parking

Located across from Charleston Paddler - rent and launch with ease from here!
Highly recommend Nature Adventure Outfitters too - located on Shem Creek.
We bought our kayaks pre-owned locally here in Mt. Pleasant. Keep your eye out for a deal - kayaking is addictive and your investment will quickly pay for itself. Half the battle is in sorting out the right gear to make the experience easier. We recommend HullyRollers roof rack for kayak transport.

Don't forget to cover up! We wear Alba for faces and Zinka for noses. I have loved these products since my boys were babies.
