serendipity and the pig: all in a Charleston weekend

Do you ever have a spate of happenstance; ever conscious of a run of good luck? Or are happy accidents meant to happen to make us marvel at the life that goes on around us every day? Perhaps the good graces that fall upon us are a result of walking out into the world with our hearts and arms wide open. This past weekend we had a run of chance encounters that made us stop and wonder...

We happened to be walking into the Tea at Grace Episcopal ( that benefits local organizations such as Operation Sight) just as our friend Jeanie Heath (pictured center in the one-of-a-kind sweetgrass hat) and the Hat Ladies were strolling out...

Gracious hosts, lovely food, and all the proceeds ($50,000 last year!) are donated to such worthy causes...

We happened into the Aquarium just at the right moment and were invited to tour the shark tank behind the scenes at feeding time ( the Aquarium is offering a great deal on membership this month - $10 off with this coupon! )

After bumping into friends on King St. and finding a perfect lunch at Co on King, we happened upon an enormous striped pig out for a Sunday stroll (heading dangerously close to Jim N Nicks)...

Accompanied by this fella - a true original. He looked directly at me and started singing the precise song that had been stuck in my head just hours before... serendipity.

A colorful weekend - only in Charleston!
