for Dad: a walk in the woods

Pluff Mud Kids book pick for Father's Day is this classic from Bill Bryson - every Dad we talked to who has read this book laughed out loud and praise it as one to keep on the shelf to reread and pass along. Bryson's tale of an arduous hike on the Appalachian Trail (told with his famous wry sense of humor) will keep Dad reading and make him want to grab a pack and find a great hike. Here's one of our favorites...

In the DuPont State Forest in Cedar Mountain, NC you will find a trail hike near Triple Falls that takes you to a beautiful covered bridge...

Use this map to guide you as you hike in from the falls-

A fantastic view and crystal clear water - Dad will love this walk in the woods.

  1. So glad to find this post about Dupont State Park. We are headed up there next weekend to hike & pick apples. Have you ever camped at BlackForest Campground? That is where we are staying. The Ash Grove campground looks fantastic but it was unfortunately booked.
