cue the last lunch

Just at the precise moment the back yard hydrangeas unfurl their pointed leaves and lacy caps, the last school lunch bag is packed. In the weeks building up to this moment, moms all over the country want to rant and rail and burn the lunch bag - we are so over the whole affair.

And then the morning arrives and you receive a message from a friend who, in the same boat, shares your bittersweet moment...

"Last full day of kindergarten. Last lunch made last night. So emotional for me! I'm weird!"

Not so, my friend. We are all weird on the last day of school as our child hovers between one grade and the next. We seal the lunch bag and kiss that year of their childhood goodbye forever.
