Live from the patch: strawberry fields (and poppies) forever...

It's that time of year again... red, luscious strawberry picking time. I was on a mission this morning to pick, at the very least, my birth weight in strawberries. I grossly underestimated the volume of homemade jam my twins could consume through the year and didn't put up near enough last year. This year, I've got my game face on! Here are some highlights:

Ooops, sorry got distracted by the poppies! Turn off Hwy 17 N onto Long Point Rd. and you will see the entrance marked with UPick signs in the poppy field...

Follow the curving dirt road along until you see the UPick tent where you can pick up baskets or 5lb buckets for picking. Pay when you leave - $1.89 per lb. They accept cards and cash payment. Blueberries will be ready in June! Happy picking!

(PMK tips- Do wear old shoes or flip-flops and be prepared to get dirty. There's water available to wash off with. Take water to drink and a sun hat and watch out for ant hills.
See this post from last year on making organic strawberry jam!
