ECLT and Paddle for East Cooper

"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children."
                                                        -Navojo proverb

If we're borrowing it from our children, shouldn't we preserve some of it for them as we go along?

This little fella was bound and determined to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding whether he had the right equipment or not - pictured here with a surfboard and a canoe paddle. Are you in the same boat when it comes to wanting to try a new sport before you commit to the investment of equipment? We had a chance to try SUP or kayaking while raising funds for the new East Cooper Land Trust last Saturday, sponsored by Nature Adventure Outfitters on Shem Creek here in Mt. Pleasant and I will be sharing highlights from the event next week.

In Mt. Pleasant and a vast surrounding area that now includes " Sullivan's Island, Isle of Palms, Daniel Island, Awendaw, McClellanville, and the surrounding unincorporated areas" * we have a strong team on our side working to conserve and protect land for future generations. Formerly The Mt. Pleasant Land Conservancy, the newly revised East Cooper Land Trust also has a new motto "Our Present for the Future" and a fresh logo to compliment their expanded vision. Executive Director Catherine Main encourages you to check out the new website here and check for upcoming events - always fun ways to make your donation count in your local area.

It's still warm enough in the water to try SUP or kayaking on Shem Creek! We highly recommend Nature Adventure Outfitters - check out their amazing program and website here

  1. If he wants to try paddleboarding more often and with kids the Charleston Rec has classes twice a month during warm times at Palmetto Island park for $5. We catch everyone they have!
