the fire museum

We just call it "the fire museum", but it's official name is the North Charleston and American LaFrance Fire Museum and Educational Center. If you've never been, you will be pleasantly surprised at how interactive and made-for-kids this place really is. The incredible collection of fire trucks and equipment includes antique trucks from all over the country...

climb inside a firetruck within the museum and go for a simulated ride. You can print your own badge to wear (free) and grab a quiz card and search for the 10 quiz boxes. When you complete the quiz, you can win prizes.

watch the 7 minute fire safety demonstration - it makes a big impression on kids. There is also a play zone complete with a fire pole making this an ideal way to spend a hot afternoon. This is such a fantastic museum and an excellent value for kids of all ages and grandparents too! (beware moms, it's dangerously close to the Tanger outlet mall).
