Moore Farms Botanical Garden

Another Mother's day gift that any mother would love comes in the offering of a day spent at a magical garden...

For two years, I had this seemingly far away garden tucked in my "favorites" box. It was on my list of places to get to; trouble was it wasn't often open to the public. This special garden rests on the land of a private home belonging to Darla Moore, a visionary business woman, philanthropist, and Lake City, SC native. More often now, there are days when the garden is open to the public and you can take a glimpse at this truly special property. From the minute you ease your way down the entrance road, you will begin to feel relaxed...

It's what I had expected and so much more. The lush fields of honeysuckle draw you in and you begin to wonder what is this place?

For me, it is a mixture of a meticulous garden, a natural habitat loaded with a variety of plants indigenous to our region, an artist's paradise (note the painters above)...

a horticulturist's dream...

a bit of whimsy here and there any child would love...

a story told in the repetition of a circular theme throughout...

and an unexpected rush of spirituality and calm everywhere you turn. Now is your chance to soak in the warmth of this truly amazing garden. I took my Mum for an early Mother's Day treat and you can too with the added bonus of a pig pickin' thrown in!
