teddy bear picnic

This is lovely Livvy and her "Bear Bear". Livvy has had this bear since she was a baby (note the worn patch on Bear Bear's nose - the sign of some good lovin'!)...

Isn't she a doll? Bear Bear has traveled over oceans with Livvy, and been there for her in good times and bad to give comfort; holding up through all the years, spills, sticky fingers, and constant cuddles. Does your child have a special bear like this? I have the perfect play date for you...

This coming Sunday, grab your favorite bear and head to Hampton Park in downtown Charleston for the annual Teddy Bear Picnic! There will be face painting, seed planting (as seen above), cookie decorating, and so much more, including a "Teddy Care Station" for injured bears! There will be some food available, and you are also encouraged to bring your own picnic. Come out for the live music too!

The event is hosted by the Charleston Parks Conservancy and, according to volunteer director Neves Richards, "connecting people to their parks" is the entire mission of the Conservancy. I absolutely love that, and this is a fantastic way to inspire children to connect with nature.
